Eric Agbata, the Executive Director of GTA Psychotherapy and Counselling, established the clinic to provide quality mental health care in our community and cultivate mental health awareness.
Eric is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). His academic training includes undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Sciences (1996) and a Master of Sciences in Public Health Microbiology (2003) from the University of Nigeria. His Passion for understanding and solving public health problems led him to complete an MPH at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, and then Ph.D. studies in Public Health (2021) at the prestigious Universitat Autonomous De Barcelona, Spain. Furthermore, Eric's fascination with human behaviour and psychology culminated in his completion of a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
Eric actively enhances mental health resources for men, women and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
He is a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, the American Public Health Association, the Canadian Public Health Association and an associate member of the Canadian Psychology Association.

My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths via counselling and psychotherapy. My assessment work includes conducting a comprehensive psychological, psycho-educational and psychosocial evaluation for a range of psychological difficulties such as personality disorders, depression and stress, anxiety (phobias, trauma, PTSD, obsessions and compulsions), and health anxiety. I will achieve this by providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing a treatment plan.
